St. Paul’s Responds to Mount Pleasant Fire Victims
Filed Under News, Social Ministry by Pastor Meredith
A major fire at the Deauville Apartment building in the nearby Mount Pleasant neighborhood has displaced over 200 people from their homes. Last Thursday night’s fire was the first five alarm fire in the District in over 30 years. The residents, most of whom were low-income families, were forced out to the street with little opportunity to grab their clothes and other possessions. To meet the immediate needs of the victims of this tragedy, St. Paul’s is donating $500 in grocery store gift cards to be distributed to the affected families. The Social Ministry team will also be collecting canned goods and pantry items this Easter Sunday for donation to the fire victims. A collection box for food items will be in the narthex.
