New Kitchen to Debut Easter Sunday!
Filed Under Support Ministry, Worship Ministry by Lexy Mueller
In June 2007 the congregation of St. Paul’s overwhelmingly approved a complete renovation of its 80-year-old kitchen and adjacent dining area.
Now the new St. Paul’s kitchen will make its long-anticipated debut on Sunday, March 23, at 9:30 a.m. for a tasty Easter breakfast. Please come and break bread with us after the 8 a.m. service or before the 11 a.m. service as we bless our new center for fellowship and ministry at St. Paul’s.
Beautiful new cabinets, countertops, appliances, tile floors and lighting have remarkably improved the appearance and efficiency of our fellowship center and multiplied the possibilities for ministry at St. Paul’s. In the process, utility services have been modernized and made more energy efficient to help keep down the costs of operating the kitchen. Still to come are pantry shelving, tables and chairs, and a built-in dining buffet.
Kitchen Shower
Many people responded generously on February 24 with over 20 gifts for the new kitchen and $750 in cash contributions. It is not too late to donate new items for the kitchen. Whether it’s a spoon, a saucepan, pantry shelving or a table and chairs, there are still plenty of items that we need to stock the kitchen, pantry and adjacent dining area. Please contact Lorna Abernathy at lmilkovich [at] aol.com for suggested items.
Fundraising Update — Please Help Meet Our Goal
In addition to $30,000 in seed money, the congregation of St. Paul’s to date has pledged an additional $150,000 to renovate its kitchen, dining and pantry storage area. The church has spent about $197,000 of its $275,000 budget, however, with the resulting difference taken from the Greater St. Paul’s Fund until more contributions are pledged.
While Greater St. Paul’s is designated to cover capital improvements and other special projects, we sincerely hope to continue with a vigorous fundraising effort to minimize any future need to use this source of funding. Please consider making a contribution of any size, or adding to your previous pledge, to help us complete our goal. You can place your contribution in the offering plate during worship or mail it to the church office at:

Kitchen Renovation Update February 23, 2008
Filed Under News, Stewardship Ministry, Support Ministry by Lexy Mueller
In June 2007 the congregation of St. Paul’s overwhelmingly approved a complete renovation of the 80-year-old kitchen and adjacent dining area.
Now, the kitchen is nearly finished!
• Cabinets and countertops are installed
• All appliances are installed and in the process of being hooked up
• The new tile flooring is installed
• Sinks and faucets are on order
• HVAC is nearly complete
• Floating ceiling is ready to be installed
• Dining room lights are installed
• Buffet counter and cabinets in dining room to be installed
• Design for decorative grate for radiator is approved
• Dining room tables and chairs are on order
Funds Are Still Needed
We have raised $161,000, which represents more than half of the funds required for the kitchen renovation. It is not too late to sponsor a “piece of the kitchen,” but undesignated contributions are especially welcome.
The Kitchen Shower — February 24
Help us “shower” the kitchen with new pots, pans, silverware, dishtowels, etc. We are having a “Kitchen Shower” during coffee hour on Sunday, February 24. Bring an unwrapped gift from The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church registry at Linen ‘N Things and Crate and Barrel or a gift card for Macy’s or Costco. No contribution is too small. Also, please bring a contribution for the food pantry, which will be relocated to the hallway between the kitchen and the chapel.

Kitchen Renovation Update: November 2007
Filed Under News, Support Ministry by Daniel Magnolia
All is quiet on the weekend, but noise and dust during the week confirm that construction on the new kitchen and dining room is well underway. You can’t see the progress, because the construction area is sealed to keep the dust contained.
- Contractors sealed an unused coal chute discovered in the hallway.
- Electricians are installing a new electrical panel to bring the electrical system up to current codes and allow for the installation of modern appliances. The next step will be the required inspection.
- The contractors judged that the old walls in the kitchen were not adequate to support new cabinets. Metal studs to support new walls are now in place throughout the kitchen and back pantry.
- After the electrical inspection drywall will be put on the metal studs.
- Workmen removed the dining room ceiling and installed electrical wiring for the new light fixtures.
- The “unknown pipes”discovered in a floor trap will be inspected by a plumber; decorative tile will cover the floor trap, which must be kept so that all of the pipes will remain accessible.
- Boxes of the new floor tiles are stacked in the lower hallway, ready to be installed after the drywall is in place.
Through November 4, 2007, we received $126,500 in gifts and pledges, including Living the Vision funds. You, too, can help.
