Lend a Hand in Lent this Sunday

Filed Under News, Social Ministry by Pastor Meredith

This Sunday’s Lend a Hand in Lent project will be assembling care packages for the homeless. Everyone is invited to gather in the Lower Auditorium immediately following the 11:00am worship service to assemble the packages. Care packages will include things to help our homeless brothers and sisters get through the end of winter. Boxes will then be distributed by those who are interested.

Alms giving, or acts of love, is part of our Lenten discipline. Come lend a hand as we walk toward Jerusalem and the cross.

St. Paul’s Celebrates 165th Anniversary

Filed Under Events, News by Pastor Meredith

Were you a member of St. Paul’s or its Sunday school on January 1, 1958? As we make final plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our present Church edifice and the 165th anniversary of the congregation, we are compiling a list of the names of those who were members of St. Paul’s or its Sunday school on January 1, 1958? If you were a part of the Church then, please contact Bobby Lerch at BobbyLerch @ aol.com.

Members and friends of St. Paul’s will gather on Saturday, March 15, from 8:30AM until Noon. Please turn out to help pick-up, clean-up, spruce-up and otherwise beautify St Paul’s building and grounds in time for Easter. We will supply basic cleaning/gardening tools and supplies but if you have your own, please bring them. Coffe and bagels will be on hand. Please call Ted Wackler, Property Chair, or the church office if you have any questions.

In June 2007 the congregation of St. Paul’s overwhelmingly approved a complete renovation of the 80-year-old kitchen and adjacent dining area.

Now, the kitchen is nearly finished!

• Cabinets and countertops are installed
• All appliances are installed and in the process of being hooked up
• The new tile flooring is installed
• Sinks and faucets are on order
• HVAC is nearly complete
• Floating ceiling is ready to be installed
• Dining room lights are installed
• Buffet counter and cabinets in dining room to be installed
• Design for decorative grate for radiator is approved
• Dining room tables and chairs are on order

Funds Are Still Needed

We have raised $161,000, which represents more than half of the funds required for the kitchen renovation. It is not too late to sponsor a “piece of the kitchen,” but undesignated contributions are especially welcome.

The Kitchen Shower — February 24

Help us “shower” the kitchen with new pots, pans, silverware, dishtowels, etc. We are having a “Kitchen Shower” during coffee hour on Sunday, February 24. Bring an unwrapped gift from The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church registry at Linen ‘N Things and Crate and Barrel or a gift card for Macy’s or Costco. No contribution is too small. Also, please bring a contribution for the food pantry, which will be relocated to the hallway between the kitchen and the chapel.

Monday – Friday, June 23-27, 2008 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon

It may only be Lent, but here at St. Paul’s we’re already gearing up for another fantastic week of Vacation Bible School this summer. Vacation Bible School will be held Monday – Friday, June 23-27, 2008 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. All children ages 3 (and potty trained) through completed 4th grade are invited to participate. Youth completed 5th through 12th grade are encouraged to serve as helpers. This is a wonderful way for children to continue to learn about God and have lots of fun. Our theme this year is “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power.” All children from the congregation and community are invited to attend this event!

Registration forms are available by contacting Pastor Lovell at mlovell@stpaulslutherandc.com or by downloading from the Christian Education page.
