“Godly Women Out of History” presents the lives of women and men whose faith had an impact on the world. The program incorporates narration, readings, music and costumes. A cast of forty-five women and men from Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN gives the program. It is to be a challenge not only to women but also to the entire family and people of all faiths.
The production was written and is directed by Marcella Hansen of Cyrus, MN. The 70 minute program culminates in a candle lighting ceremony symbolizing the lives of women of the past. “Their candles have gone out but their lights continue to shine.”
The program introduces us to some ordinary women, representing many walks of life, who have stepped out of the pages of history because they were willing to be transformed into the image of Christ. Some of the women portrayed are Betsey Ross (designer of American flag), Mother Teresa, Julia Ward Howe (writer of “Battle Hymn of the Republic”), Corrie Ten Boom (Dutch Christian Holocaust survivor), Katie Luther (Martin Luther’s wife), and Harriet Tubman (a leader of slaves in the Underground Railroad).
More details can be found on their website at www.godlywomenofhistory.com
Please join us for this production at St. Paul’s on Wednesday July 16th at 7pm. A free will offering will be collected to continue their ministry at home as well as to missionaries in Africa.
