St. Paul’s Social Ministry responds to the needs of the congregation and the greater community, pproviding resources and advocacy for those in need such as homeless shelters for men and families, the food pantry, healing and jobs.

Care Ministry Team
St. Paul’s Care Ministry Team reaches out to the members and friends of St. Paul’s community by providing care in the form of meals, altar flowers, cards, visitation and transporation. More…

Food Pantry
The St. Paul’s Food Pantry is used by homeless, low-income, and people in crisis from around the metro-D.C. area. Individuals and families are supplied with non-perishable food that is to serve as a supplement to other food sources.

The pantry is open from 10am-4pm Monday through Thursday.

Gifts of Hope
An alternative gift giving ministry during Advent that supports global Lutheran ministries. Click here to be taken to the online Gifts of Hope catalogue. Gifts of Hope can be purchased after the worship services at St. Paul’s during the four Sundays in Advent.

Disaster Relief
A response to help affected areas following a natural disaster. An upcoming trip in January 2009 is planned to Galveston, TX.

St. Paul’s Homeless Shelter
St. Paul’s operates a five-bed, year around shelter for homeless men in D.C. area. The residents receive a safe place to sleep and store their possessions, a permanent address that they can use when applying for jobs and/or benefits, and a hot meal that is delivered each evening by members of the congregation. The shelter is staffed by caseworkers who assist the men in their transition out of homelessness. More…

Outreach to the Children of the Holy Land
St. Paul’s provides support for children attending Lutheran schools in the Holy Land. We draw special attention to this ministry during the annual Transfiguration Sunday Luncheon.

Capital Interfaith Hospitality Network (CIHN) is an interfaith group providing shelter to homeless families in our community. Click here to be taken to the CIHN website.

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) is a social service agency that reaches out to those in need in the DC metropolitan area.
